Château d’Escurac is composed of woods, meadows and vines. Out of forty hectare, the main twenty-four hectare vineyard is located on the gravelly high mound (17 metres) on which the château itself is perched, overlooking the surrounding marshes.
The influence of both the nearby ocean and estuary as well as the topography of the vineyard provide regular and effective protection against spring frost.
The vines are on average 23 years old and the combination of grape varieties (42% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc) allows a greater complexity in the organoleptic qualities of the wine as well as a tempering of the climatic variations from one vintage to the next.
In 2013, Château d’Escurac was awarded the HVE3 certificate (High Environmental Value), for good performance in biodiversity, phytosanitary strategy and management of fertilizers and water resources.
